MSP VISIT REINFORCES THE BENEFIT OF THE INCLUDEM APPROACH

Published date : 13 Aug 2019

Mid Fife and Glenrothes MSP Jenny Gilruth recently paid a visit to Glenrothes based charity Includem, to find out more about their work as a youth support charity.

Ms Gilruth stopped off to meet some the charity’s staff and the young people they support at their Fife office.

Includem offers intensive 24/7 support for vulnerable young people and their families. It currently works with 45 young people in the Kingdom experiencing challenges dealing with day to day living. They offer tailored intensive support to build confidence and social skills to help them progress towards better lives. The service is backed by a 24/7 helpline that can be called for instant support.

‘In my previous role as a teacher I know how important early intervention is in keeping young people living with challenges from slipping further out of reach,’ said Ms Gilruth.

‘The intensive support that Includem offers has been proven time and again to really make a difference to young people who may be on the brink of criminality or other negative behaviour paths, helping them realise the consequences their decisions have on themselves and on others and supporting them to turn their lives around.’

Includem has worked to transform the lives of more than 5000 young people across the country since 2000.

Includem’s Fife Team Manager, Amanda Smith said:

‘We were delighted to welcome Jenny to see what we do with the young people we support and to meet some of them in person. It is not until you meet the individuals and hear about their issues, and what we are doing to help them get over their challenges that you appreciate the level of support that is required to achieve real results in turning people’s lives around.’
