LOCAL MSP VISITS LEVEN ALPACAS
Published date : 07 Oct 2019
Leven MSP, Jenny Gilruth, recently paid a visit to Claireville Alpacas – a Leven based farm that specialises in a wide range of unique alpaca experiences.
Claireville Alpacas first opened its doors in January 2015, starting out with 7 alpacas. Today the farm is home to a herd of 43.
Owners, Claire and Linda Blyth, regularly host alpaca parties and walks for both adults and children and are also looking at taking some of the alpacas to local care homes as a form of pet therapy.
Speaking after the visit, Jenny Gilruth MSP commented:
“I had an absolutely fantastic time today visiting Claireville Alpacas in Leven!
“Claire and Linda are providing a brilliant, fun and unique experience for those in Fife and beyond and I was delighted to be able to meet them and the herd and hear their story.
“It was great to hear about the plans Claireville have to use the alpacas as therapy pets within local Fife care homes – I wish all involved the best of luck in this noble plan.”
Linda Blyth, a co-owner of Claireville Alapacas said:
“We had the pleasure of welcoming Jenny Gilruth MSP to our little farm recently, and like a trouper Jenny mucked in and fed the alpacas.
“It’s caring work 365 days a year but the animals and the people who visit us make it all worthwhile. We give people a fun alpaca experience when they visit, trekking, meeting the sheep and the baby alpacas – not forgetting the cows!
“Jenny saw to it that the sheep had a nice treat of rich tea biscuits, she also made good friends with one of our baby alpacas, 2-month-old Rondo – we all had a great time!”
