LEVEN MSP SECURES ADDITIONAL BUS STOP ON X27 ROUTE
Published date : 28 Feb 2020
Mid Fife and Glenrothes MSP, Jenny Gilruth, has secured an additional bus stop at Diageo’s west gate for her constituents, which will be used on all X27 service journeys to and from Leven Bus Station.
The bus stop has been included on the route following Stagecoach’s 24 February service change.
The need for a bus stop at Diageo’s west gate was raised with the Leven MSP by a constituent, Gloria Gibson, in September. Ms Gibson, who lives in Castlefleurie, was concerned that there was too long a walk for those living in her area from the bus stop at Diageo’s main gate.
The Mid Fife and Glenrothes MSP made representations on Ms Gibson’s behalf to Stagecoach and secured the additional stop as part of wider Stagecoach service changes.
Appetite for the additional bus stop was highlighted with over 50 expressions of interest on a local Castlefleurie Facebook page.
Commenting on the new bus stop, Jenny Gilruth MSP said:
‘‘I am delighted with Stagecoach’s decision to add an additional stop at the Diageo’s west gate for my constituents using the X27 Service.
‘‘I would like to thank Stagecoach for recognising the local demand for the additional stop. It is great to see public transport providers being responsive to people’s needs locally and delivering for the community.”
Welcoming the new bus stop, Ms Gloria Gibson said:
“I would like to thank our local MSP, Jenny Gilruth, for her assistance regarding the X27 Service. I do hope that it will be well used from here. Jenny has made me very, very happy. No more long walks in the dark and pouring rain to the stop at Aldi.”
