Publised date : 01 Sep 2016

Mid Fife and Glenrothes MSP, Jenny Gilruth has today given her support to local pharmacist, Naseem Sadiq, whose pharmacy, Dears in Glenrothes, is in the running for a national award.

Having won the Scottish regional final of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s ‘I Love My Phramacy’ Award, Dears Pharmacy is now up against competition from across the UK for the top prize. In coming out on top in Scotland Dears Pharmacy beat off strong competition from four other pharmacies nationwide, including one other in Glenrothes (Cadham Pharmacy).

Offering her congratulations and support, Jenny Gilruth MSP said:

“It was fantastic to meet with Naseem and his team at Dears Pharmacy today. It’s obvious to see that the service they provide the people of Glenrothes is first rate and I’m glad that this is being recognised through the ‘I Love my Pharmacy’ Award. To win the Scottish final is a superb achievement and I’d now like to wish all those at Dears Pharmacy the best of luck for the national final.”
Jenny Gilruth MSP added:
“Having two Glenrothes based pharmacies making it to the Scottish final is great for the town. It shows that in this industry the town of Glenrothes is well served, with multiple pharmacies operating at a level worthy of national recognition”
Speaking after Jenny Gilruth MSP’s visit, Mahyar Nickkho-Amiry, General Manager of Dears Phramacy in Glenrothes said:

"We were delighted that Jenny took time out of her day to visit our pharmacy and meet Naseem and myself to congratulate Naseem on his award and also to discuss the role of pharmacy in the community and how we can support the health and well-being of the community.”

Naseem Sadiq, owner of Dears Pharmacy said:

“I am humbled to be the regional winner amongst such a strong field of shortlisted pharmacists in Scotland and would like to thank all the members of the public who have taken the time to vote for me. Receiving this support from our patients, who we seek to serve as best we can, means incredibly much to me, and to the team.”
The winner of the UK-wide final will be announced in London on the 9th of September
