GLENROTHES MSP PRAISES WORK OF LOCAL FOODBANK
Jenny Gilruth MSP, today (Monday 22nd October) paid visit to Glenrothes Foodbank, Pentland Park. The foodbank offers much vital support to individuals and families in the surrounding community.
Ms Gilruth met with volunteers to see first-hand the support the foodbank provides to Glenrothes residents.
According to the Trussell Trust, the number of people depending on foodbanks to get by is at an all-time high in Scotland.
Commenting, the MSP said:
“Foodbank volunteers here in Glenrothes, and across Scotland, do amazing work to help those most in need.
“It is scandalous that in 2018 families are forced to depend on foodbanks, simply to get by. I am urging people in our local area to donate what they can and provide a lifeline to members of the Glenrothes community who are struggling to get by.
Glenrothes Foodbank are currently appealing for donations for instant mash, beans & sausages, tinned potatoes, tinned vegetables and snacks.
The foodbank is located at Caledonia House, Pentland Park, Saltire Centre, Glenrothes, KY6 2AQ. Open Monday, Wednesday & Friday – 1pm to 4.45pm.
