Glenrothes MSP Launches Poetry Competition to Mark Town’s 70th
Jenny Gilruth MSP has launched a poetry competition as part of Glenrothes’ 70th anniversary celebrations.
Launched earlier this week, Ms Gilruth has called on Glenrothes residents of all ages to take part in the poetry competition for their chance to recite their winning poem at the Scottish Parliament in June.
A number of projects have been launched by local schools and community groups to mark the occasion, culminating with an parliamentary reception, organised by Jenny Gilruth, in Holyrood later this year.
The poetry competition is open to all ages. Entries to close on Friday 25th May. Poems should be submitted to jenny.gilruth.msp@parliament.scot or sent to 12 Commercial Street, Markinch, KY7 6DE.
Commenting, Jenny Gilruth MSP said:
“I am encouraging Glenrothes residents of all ages to take part in the competition and express what our town means to you.
“Like many local schools and community groups, I have been hard at work to ensure that Glenrothes’ anniversary is fittingly – it would be terrific to see residents really getting behind this competition.
“I am looking forward to hosting a reception in the Scottish Parliament in the coming months to mark the occasion and it will be great to see the winning poet read their work at the event. I’d like to wish everyone who enters the competition the very best of luck!”
