CASEWORKER SOUGHT FOR JENNY GILRUTH MSP

Jenny Gilruth, MSP for Mid Fife and Glenrothes is currently seeking a caseworker for her constituency office in Markinch to provide support with all casework by investigating issues raised through correspondence and surgeries, dealing with general public enquiries, maintaining filing system, arranging surgeries and supervising/line managing staff as appropriate.

Salary: £20,200 - £24,700 – depending on skills and abilities

Working pattern: Full time Location: Constituency office, Markinch, Fife

Duties

•dealing with general public enquiries

•dealing with casework effectively and efficiently and investigating and responding to issues raised through correspondence, telephone calls, emails and surgeries

•establishing and maintaining policy resource files

•maintaining an electronic and manual filing system. Associating previous papers with current correspondence and extracting document on request

•conducting basic research and surveys

•tracking the responses to constituents and ensuring all enquiries are answered within the agreed timescale •maintaining the casework tracking system and ensuring it’s up to date

•typing of correspondence and reports as required

•administrative work as directed Requirements •strong organisational/administrative and IT skills with good attention to detail

•relates well to people with good communication skills •knowledge of local constituency/regional issues with the ability to maintain and build on this knowledge

•analytical skills and the ability to identify issues and investigate them

•knowledge of scottish political scene •the ability to work well in a small team

•a flexible and adaptable approach with good initiative

•previous experience helpful
