Motion to Congratulate Teacher Lorna Hay

Publised date : 16 Nov 2018

That the Parliament congratulates Lorna Hay, who teaches at Pitteuchar East Primary School, on winning the Primary School Teacher of the Year title at the 2018 Scottish Women in Technology Awards; notes that Lorna is an ambassador for the Primary Engineer programme, having completed a PGCert in Engineering STEM Learning; understands that the programme aims to promote engineering skills and careers in schools; believes that, as a result of her postgraduate studies, in which she built professional networks in the industry through interviewing engineers in their own settings, Lorna has introduced one hour of "primary engineer time" in the school's P7 schedule, to give children time to programme, tinker with, explore and learn more about technology, and wishes Lorna and her pupils the best of luck with their engineering programme.
