MOTION TO CONGRATULATE MARKINCH FILMMAKER ON FESTIVAL SCREENING

Publised date : 31 Aug 2017

Jenny Gilruth MSP has lodged a motion (S5M-07426: "Tom Nicoll, Screenplay Festival in Shetland") asking the Scottish Parliament to congratulate Tom Nicoll from Markinch on screening his film Retreat at the Screenplay Festival in Shetland.

The motion text reads:

"That the Parliament congratulates 26-year-old Tom Nicoll from Markinch on having his film, Retreat, shown at the Screenplay Festival in Shetland, which champions Scottish filmmakers; understands that Tom, having written and performed sketch shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, attended a commercial film production company in London before writing, producing and directing short films; notes that Tom’s debut feature film, Retreat, a psychological horror film about a woman who starts to believe there is someone else living alongside her in a remote highland lodge, was curated by the BBC’s Mark Kermode, and wishes him every success in the future."
