MSP WELCOMES SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT INVESTMENT IN KENNOWAY AFTER VISIT TO PUMP TRACK

Mid Fife and Glenrothes MSP, Jenny Gilruth, has welcomed £75,000 investment from the Scottish Government in Kennoway, during a visit to the future Kennoway Pump Track facility.
The Kennoway Pump Track project, championed and led by Gavin Harrower, was awarded £75,000 of funding by Sport Scotland from the Cycling Facilities Fund.
This investment will see a new state of the art cycling facility built in Kennoway.
This proposed track will replace the old outdated BMX track situated at the Sandy Brae community centre and will be the first Velosolution asphalt track built in Fife.
Championed by Gavin Harrower, the new Kennoway Pump Track will provide wheeled sports including bikes, skateboards, inline skates and scooters with a fun and challenging facility.
Commenting, the MSP for Mid Fife and Glenrothes, Jenny Gilruth said:
“I am delighted to hear that the Kennoway Pump Track project will go ahead, supported by investment from the Scottish Government.
“This new facility will help to train a new generation of cyclists and will help raise awareness of the sport locally.”
Commenting, Gavin Harrower said:
“The track has the potential to impact on people’s lives by providing everyone with a state of the art, free to access facility.
“The track will also be a championship standard and we hope to attract races and set up a small club who will assist with the running of bike training sessions and perhaps run fun races during Kennoway Civic Week.”

“I am delighted to see this investment in community and club cycling projects across Scotland, which will hopefully encourage more people to take up cycling for the benefits to their physical, mental and social health.
“This funding will support that opportunity by developing accessible community facilities, helping with our ambitions to support participation across all groups, tackle inequalities, and help more people lead active lives.

The project has raised cash through a crowdfunder alongside being successful in securing funding from Scottish Cycling Facilities Fund and local area budgets, as well as receiving contributions from Technip FMC in Dunfermline and Velux in Glenrothes.
