MOTION TO CONGRATULATE FIFE HERITAGE RAILWAY
Published date : 05 May 2017
Jenny Gilruth MSP has lodged a motion (S5M-05460: “Fife Heritage Railway NSB 5010”) asking the Scottish Parliament to congratulate Fife Heritage Railway in Leven on restoring and exhibiting a NSB 5010 guard van.
The motion text reads:
“That the Parliament congratulates the members and volunteers of Fife Heritage Railway in Leven on the restoration of a NSB 5010 guard van; understands that the van formed part of a train that was heavily damaged in a bomb attack in Norway during the Second World War, which killed five Norwegians and one American, one of the United States’ earliest military causalities in the conflict; notes that it was acquired by Fife Heritage Railway from the Scottish Railway Preservation Society and that extensive restoration work has been ongoing since February 2016; regrets the group lost a coach from Great North of Scotland Railway following a fire in April 2017; welcomes the news that the restored van will make its debut at the group’s open day on 28 May, and wishes its members and everyone involved in the restoration every success.”
