LOCAL MSP & PUPILS CLEAN UP TOWN PARK

Glenrothes MSP Jenny Gilruth met with pupils from South Parks Primary School today as they took part in a litter pick organised by the MSP in Riverside Park.

The litter pick was a huge success with the group collecting 12 bags of rubbish in their efforts to keep the town’s park clean.

Commenting after the litter pick, the MSP said:

“I was delighted to be joined by the community group from South Parks primary school on today’s litter pick. As the town’s MSP I am regularly contacted about issues associated with litter – today’s litter pick was an opportunity to work with young people locally and to play our part in helping to keep Glenrothes litter free.

The school pupils involved were very enthusiastic about their role on the community group at South Parks Primary. It’s clear they take looking after Glenrothes very seriously indeed, which was impressive.

Riverside Park should offer a safe and clean environment that everyone in the local community can enjoy – this is particularly important in our 70th anniversary year. I would like to thank Fife Council for providing litter pickers and bags and to all the pupils involved in South Park Primary’s Community Group for helping to take part’.

Adding her thoughts, Headteacher Michelle McLean commented:

“Southparks Primary were thrilled to help support the local community here in Glenrothes.

“As a local primary school, we have identified the litter problem in Riverside Park some time ago. I am delighted to work alongside Jenny & Fife Council to help improve the local area’.
