JENNY GILRUTH MSP CALLS FOR LOCAL SUPPORT FOR SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY
Published date : 30 Nov 2017
Small Business Saturday typically takes place on the first Saturday of December, this year being marked on the 2nd December across the whole of the country.
Small Business Saturday is a great initiative, encouraging customers to support small businesses in their communities in the run up to Christmas. The hope is that the campaign, now in its fifth year, will provide a lasting beneficial impact on the small businesses.
Glass by Kathryn, a small business now celebrating its tenth year of operation is run by local Leslie woman Kathryn Neale. This year, whilst celebrating Small Business Saturday, she will also be hosting her annual Christmas Shopping event over the weekend of 2nd/3rd December – a great incentive to nip in and start your Christmas shopping or to pick up a treat yourself.
Commenting, Jenny Gilruth MSP explained –
‘Supporting smaller businesses in our communities all across Scotland and in particular my constituency is something most of us now make a conscious effort to do. Having a specific day to mark this provides a wonderful opportunity to get out there, away from the normal shopping routines and avenues to see what is available. At this time of year when we are all looking for special gifts, it’s a great time to break from the norm and find a hidden gem.
I recently visited Glass by Kathryn & heard first-hand about her smaller business, which she stared back in 2007. I am very proud to support Kathryn & all the other small businesses in Glenrothes and Mid Fife & hope everyone will do the same on Small Business Saturday.’
