FIFE MSP CALLS ON CONSTITUENTS TO ‘MAKE SOMEONE’S DAY’ THIS ST ANDREWS DAY.
This St Andrews Day, Friday the 30th of November, is set to be the biggest ever across the country in celebration of Scotland’s patron saint, Saint Andrew.
Fife MSP Jenny Gilruth is calling on constituents to support the Scottish Government’s #MakeSomeonesDay campaign, which encourages people across Scotland to share a small act of kindness on St Andrews Day.
The #MakeSomeonesDay campaign marks the start of Scotland’s Winter Festival, which also includes Hogmanay and Burns Night.
Commenting ahead of the official celebrations this Friday, Jenny Gilruth MSP said;
‘I’d like to wish everyone in across my constituency a very happy St Andrew’s Day. Of course we have our own unique ties to the patron saint of Scotland, as legend tells us his bones were taken from Constantinople to the Fife town, which is named after him.
The Make Someone’s Day initiative aims to celebrate the spirit of Saint Andrew – someone who was renowned for his generosity.
I’m encouraging my constituents to do likewise on Friday the 30th of November by commuting to doing something nice for someone else. This isn’t about spending money – it’s about small acts of kindness which can mean so much more.
So whether it’s a charity bake sale at work, donating goods to a charity shop, or helping out your elderly neighbours – think about what small thing you could do to show kindness this St Andrews Day and make someone’s day’.
