MOTION TO WELCOME TULLIS RUSSELL EXHIBITION

Published date : 20 Apr 2017

Jenny Gilruth MSP has lodged a motion (S5M-05220) asking the Scottish Parliament to congratulate David Brown, a trustee at Glenrothes and Area Heritage Centre, on holding an exhibition on the 206-year history of Tullis Russell paper mill in Markinch.

The motion text reads:

“That the Parliament congratulates David Brown, who is a trustee at Glenrothes and Area Heritage Centre, on exhibiting the fascinating 206-year history of the Tullis Russell paper mill in Markinch; recognises the historical importance of Tullis Russell, which it believes was regarded as one of the finest ever paper manufacturers; acknowledges the deep sense of pride that people had in working for the company, which closed in 2015, and the influence that it considers it had on the many public buildings, schools, social and sports clubs in the Markinch and Glenrothes areas that it served, and wishes everyone at the heritage centre every success with the exhibition.”
