Published date : 05 Jul 2017
Jenny Gilruth MSP has lodged a motion (S5M-06631: “Dementia-friendly Walks in Riverside Park, Glenrothes”) asking the Scottish Parliament to welcome the unveiling of two new dementia-friendly walks at Riverside Park in Glenrothes.
The motion text reads:
“That the Parliament welcomes the unveiling of two new dementia-friendly walks at Riverside Park in Glenrothes; acknowledges that both paths were developed with funding and support from Paths for All, Fife Health and Social Care Partnership and Fife Council; understands that the routes have been marked with bright yellow arrows to show the way for those with dementia, along with activity stops aimed at improving strength and balance; welcomes the news that the local Bums off Seats team has trained its volunteer walk leaders to be dementia-friendly and to offer further support for those with dementia; congratulates all of those involved in funding, constructing and volunteering to support these paths for their efforts in bringing the project to fruition; hopes that the new Riverside Park walks will encourage other local authorities and groups to develop dementia-friendly routes in their local parks, and hopes that many people with dementia will enjoy using the new walks in future.”
