MSP PRAISES LOCAL MARIE CURIE FUNDRAISING GROUP

Published date : 06 Dec 2016

Mid Fife and Glenrothes MSP Jenny Gilruth met with members of the Marie Curie Glenrothes Fundraising Group at their Christmas meeting at Robertson Fine Art Cafe to learn all about the vital work they do throughout the region.

As the local face of Marie Curie’s fundraising team, group members donate their time and effort to raise money to help care for people with terminal illnesses and their families.

Members also act as ambassadors, helping to spread the word about the work of Marie Curie and supporting local people, clubs and organisations to fundraise too.

Glenrothes Fundraising Group spokeswoman Janet Henry revealed that last year alone more than £10,475 was raised in Fife and described people in Glenrothes and surrounding areas as “extremely generous”.

Ms Gilruth said: “It was lovely meeting with the Glenrothes Marie Curie fundraising team and learning all about the work they do across my constituency for this very worthwhile cause. The amazing amount raised last year alone is testament to the passion and dedication of every single member and I commend them all for their efforts.”
