JENNY GILRUTH PRAISES HIGH STANDARDS OF FIFE ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY TEAM
Published date : 04 Nov 2016
Mid Fife and Glenrothes MSP Jenny Gilruth has praised the work of NHS Fife health board’s orthopaedic surgery team for becoming the first health board in Scotland (excluding the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Glasgow) to complete five hip replacements in a day, with the standard generally being less than four.
Ms Gilruth said: “The team were challenged by the Scottish Government to carry out this task after they were identified as running one of the most efficient theatres in Scotland and they more than rose to this challenge and will now provide feedback that will be considered by Government officials.
“Congratulations to everyone involved for achieving this impressive target. The average length of stay following hip replacement in the Kingdom is now an average of 3.2 days- a statistic which is one of the best in Scotland and a real testament to the high standards of our orthopaedic surgery treatment provided here in Fife.”
