MSPS HELPING TO TURN CAKES INTO CARE

Jenny Gilruth MSP is supporting Marie Curie’s Blooming Great Tea Party summer fundraising campaign. Marie Curie is encouraging people to get together with friends, family or colleagues to host a tea party, bake sale or special tea break to raise funds.

At the recent ‘Blooming Great Tea Party’ in the Scottish Parliament, the Mid Fife & Glenrothes MSP met with representatives from the charity that provides care and support for people living with a terminal illness, and their families.

Jenny Gilruth MSP said: “This is a fantastic initiative from Marie Curie and I’m delighted to show my support. I hope that more people in the Mid Fife & Glenrothes will be inspired by the campaign to take part, enjoy a tea party of their own and help promote the outstanding and vital work being done every day by Marie Curie.”

Susan Lowes, Policy & Public Affairs Manager Scotland, added: “Thanks to Jenny we hope more people will be inspired to take part and get together with friends, having a great time raising dough for Marie Curie.”

Marie Curie provided care and support for over 4,255 people in NHS Fife in 2015/16. Marie Curie also has a volunteer Helper service in Fife providing emotional support, companionship and information about relevant local services to people, carers and families, and Information and Support Services that are available for everyone affected by a terminal illness. Last year 366 people and 64 Marie Curie fundraising groups in Scotland took part in Blooming Great Tea Party and raised almost £93,000 for the charity.
