JENNY GILRUTH MSP MEETS “A LIFE EXPLORED” CARE SERVICE

LOCAL MSP VISITS GROUP TO LEARN ABOUT SUPPORT FOR VULERNABLE CHILDREN
Mid Fife & Glenrothes MSP Jenny Gilruth has visited local children’s care service A Life Explored, to learn about the important work being done to support vulnerable young people who cannot live with their families.
A Life Explored provides therapeutic childcare at three houses in Fife, helping young people aged from 12 to 18 who have had difficult a start in life. Each home allows two children to receive one-to-one care support from a team of caring adults.
On Friday, Jenny Gilruth MSP visited the headquarters of A Life Explored in Glenrothes to have a discussion with staff about the needs of children using the service.
Commenting, Jenny Gilruth MSP said:
“The Scottish Government has made closing the Attainment Gap a key commitment in this Parliamentary term, and as a former teacher I know the impact a difficult start in life can have on a young person’s personal aspirations and opportunities.
“This visit was a great opportunity to discuss these issues with staff who have had first-hand experience caring for young people. The discussion was very informative and I’m looking forward to supporting this and similar efforts to provide care in Mid Fife & Glenrothes moving effort.”
Jenny Gilruth MSP previously noted the important work of A Life Explored in December 2016, when she submitted a Parliamentary motion congratulating the team for receiving national recognition at the Tobacco Free Generation Awards. A Life Explored was recognised for its contribution to reducing smoking and achieving a tobacco-free environment.
