£30 MILLION TO MAKE HOUSES WARMER
Published date : 06 Apr 2017
Jenny Gilruth, MSP for Mid Fife and Glenrothes, today welcomed the Scottish Government’s announcement to allocate £30 million in funding to make households more energy efficient.
The new program will allow householders to apply for an interest-free loan of up to £15,000, in order to upgrade their homes to be more energy efficient. Landlords will also be able to apply for these interest-free loans.
With this money, homeowners and landlords can install or update solid wall installation, loft and roof installation, draught proofing, and other energy efficient measures intended to keep houses warmer during the cold seasons.
In Mid Fife and Glenrothes, this is an especially welcome announcement as the average temperature during certain winter months often drops below zero, and the average daily high in winter is between 5-7 degrees.
These loans will help Mid Fife & Glenrothes constituents who otherwise may not be able to afford to upgrade their houses, to install climate control devices that will help them keep their homes at a warm and liveable temperature, while also having less of an impact on the environment.
Those interested in applying for a loan can call 0808 808 2282, or visit www.homeenergyscotland.org.
